Quran 2:180
It is prescribed upon you, when death approaches (any) one of you – if he leaves behind wealth – then he should make a will (wasiyyah) for his parents and near relatives in a fair manner [in the one-third]. This is a duty upon the pious people.

What is a will?
An Islamic Will is an important legal document that outlines how your funeral arrangements are to be carried out, how your inheritance will be distributed and ensuring that your Islamic obligations have been met. Such as qadah prayers, fasting, haj, ziayrah and donations one wishes to leave behind.
Importance of the will in Islam.
In Islam, the distribution of one’s wealth and assets after death is governed by specific rules, which means that without a will, one’s assets may not be distributed according to their desired plan. By writing a will, a person can ensure that their wealth is distributed in a fair and just manner, as well as providing for any outstanding debts or obligations. In addition, writing a will also allows for any charitable donations or bequests to be made according to the individual’s wishes, leaving a positive legacy behind.
