The first step is always the hardest

We understand that the first step in preparing for the death can be the hardest. That is why at Al Zahra Funeral Services, we are here to guide you through the process with compassion and support. 

Before death there are certain procedures that individuals are encouraged to undertake these include:
– Writing a will to outline how the   persons assets should be distributed after their death.
– Making sure any outstanding religious obligations are fulfilled.
– Making arrangements for religiously recommended charities or zakat.
– Seeking forgiveness and making amends with others.
When a person is nearing death the following actions are recommended: 
– Have the person lie with the soles of their feet facing the Qiblah.
– Try having them repeat the Shahada
– Comfort them by reciting Qur’an and Duaa
– It is recommended to recite Surah Yasin (no. 36) and Surah As-Saffat (no. 37), near the dying person. According to the traditions, this will relieve the pains of death.
When a person has passed away the following actions are recommended : 
– Close the eye-lids of the deceased.
– Close the mouth of the deceased.
– Tie the two jaws so that the mouth does not open.
– Straighten his/her arms and place them on the sides of their body, where possible
– Straighten his/her legs, where possible.
– Cover the deceased.
– Switch on the light in the room where the deceased is kept.
– Arrange the funeral as soon as possible.
